About the Landward Defence Evaluation and Research Institute (LDERI)
The focus of the Landward Defence Evaluation and Research Institute (LDERI) is to provide the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) with fast and easy access to a sound and experienced knowledge base at the CSIR.
With this expertise at hand, the Department of Defence supported in defining future operational requirements, astute acquisition choices and the exploration and development of leading-edge technologies.
Areas of work cover Mobility, Vehicle and Crew Survivability, Firepower and Soldier systems. The CSIR also maintains equipment and facilities – many uniquely designed – with which to support test, measurement and evaluation processes and methods.
The ultimate objective is ensuring the SANDF is technologically enhanced to gain the upper hand.
